This thread was a request from our member wolfticket and I totally agree with that! The Master System is the older brother of the Mega Drive, they are very close to each other, so here you can talk about everything related to our beloved 8 bit machine!

It has Phantasy Star. Enough said! True, Phantasy Star proves the real power of the Master System! I had a lot of fun playing it. Awesome! What's everyone's top 5 Master System games? My personal top 5 are: Alex Kidd in Miracle World - The most favourite game of all Master System fans. It was released in 1986 and for this year, it has amazing graphics. The concept is really good and varied with all the different stages, enemies, the legendary paper rock and scissors game, the different vehicles like the motorbike or the heli, the unforgetable soundtracks.. Too bad that Alex was never the same after. Miracle World is the number one game for the system. Sonic the Hedgehog - The first and still the best Sonic game ever released in my opinion. The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay mechanics are very fine. The soundrack here is great as well as the level designs. The jungle zone and the lightning level are my favourite levels here. Definitely a must play! The Ninja - An all time classic. As Kazamaru, we have to save the country and it´s princess from a gang of evil ninjas to bring peace back to the Ohkami Castle. I love everything in this game, it´s really worth to play it. So don´t waste any time: Grab your stars and use them! R.C. Grand Prix - I need to mention this game as often as possible. No racing game can be compared to this one. You control some radio controlled cars and you need to win the races to buy better parts. It will be extremely fast later and it has a four player mode - A perfect family game. Wonder Boy in Monster Land - I know that most english people like the Dragon´s Trap the most, but the germans like Monster Land. Tom-Tom is a growing knight who is going to fight the dragon at the end of the game. You need to win many boss fights to earn money to buy new stuff at the different shops. Plus, the game has many secrets to discover. The music is epic and it has a lot of replay value - Every year again. It´s an addictive platformer. At last, the role playing elements are very important.

My Hero = Highly addictive! Can't help but play a quick round every time I start my SMS regardless what other game I intended to play.
Teddy Boy = Simple and fun run & gun shooter with high pick up and play ability.
Enduro Racer = Best motivational ending ever!
Kenseiden = Was my first game ever so I have a soft spot for the game, but it's still a great game in the Metroidvania genre.
Wonder Boy III = Both the best music and graphics on the system IMO. And I still find it challenging after 20+ years as I have never been able to finish it without cheats.

Good afternoon. I should write a post in the Intros thread, which I'll endeavour to do in a moment. However, last week, I picked up a Master System 2 pack - "Unbelievable Value" Limited Edition pack. Pack in games are Sonic, Super Kick-Off, Olympic Gold and Trivial Pursuit. When I got home, I realised Trivial Pursuit was missing from the pack. It was from a charity shop, so I wasn't too upset. Anyways, went back to same shop last night, and there on the shelf, looking a bit lonely, was the missing Trivial Pursuit pack-in game. So a complete package, bonus I also picked up a boxed NES from the same shop on the same day, but this isn't the right forum for that

Hi dude! I´ve never heard of that pack before, sounds very interesting. It would be cool if you share a picture with us You definitely made an awesome pickup there! And for the NES, no problem. We don´t see it as eager as other people probably do I just opened the New Stuff-Thread for happenings like this

I will get a better photo, but because I put it straight into storage, it's not to hand today. So I only have the photo I took the day I bought them, which has some kind of contamination on it It's basically a standard MS2 Sonic pack, but with an extra sticker + pack in games. I would assume it was done by one of the shops at the time maybe?

Sorry I wasn´t able to reply until now. The package looks great, it seems it was an exclusive pack published by a specific shop, like you´ve mentioned before. Another thing: If you ever played World Cup Italia 90 on the Master System, you probably know that it´s not the easiest game. I managed it to win the world cup with China! I defeated Germany in the semi-finals via penalty kick. It was an epic moment for me, because it´s one of my childhood games and I was pretty bad at it when I was a kid. Attachments:

Extra credit for winning it with a team that's not that good in the game! I managed to beat it as a kid, though I played with Italy or Argentina I believe so it was a bit easier but yeah it's quite a hard game! Quite heart pumping especially if the game goes to penalties. Also remember having "epic" penalty shoot out battles with friends and relatives. Even cheating involved were we tried to glance at each others controller to see which side we would shoot, after a while we had to hide the controller completely Edit: Just saw that you beat Italy 5-1 in the Quarter Finals, crazy! It's like the 7-1 Semi-Final win for Germany in the World Cup, you humiliated the home team!

Thanks mate! China is the baddest team in the game. It´s really full of action. I was lucky against the good teams, because they liked it a lot to make a foul when I was near the goal line. The results were loads of corner kicks which brought me the win. Without that ´trick´, I think it´s not possible to beat the game with China because they are too slow for Germany, Argentina ect. I made some non-corner kick goals, but they became rare at the last matches xD
By the way, Germany is the best team in the game. Whenever I play this game, they are the ´bad guys´ for me which must be defeated no matter what happens XD

Hehe Cool corner kick strategy! I remember the only way I could score was to come in diagonally into the penalty box and shoot diagonal shots, I could barely ever score any goals if I just tried shooting straight forward.

There is another strategy as well. Take the ball and run along the outline. Take the corner at the end, go two or three steps further, pass the ball into the enemy´s penalty area (where another of your players will wait for the pass) and then shoot the ball directly into the goal.
Your diagonal strategy works with strong teams, but not with weak teams.
